Grassfed Cattle Waiting to Be Fed
I promised some folks that we'd post pictures of our grassfed beef cattle; explaining their feeding in winter.
As we've discussed before, our grass fed cattle are well adapted to winter conditions as long as they have ample food and water. Follow along and we'll explain our Winter Feeding Step by Step.

Greg Judy Hay Unroller
If you look closely at the upper right of this picture, you will see the cattle are lined up behind a single strand of poly-wire. That is the previous days paddock. They know what's about to happen...
We want to be sure each Grassfed Steer has equal access to the hay, so we unroll it across the field using a
Greg Judy Bale Unroller pulled by a small 4-wheeler. No Tractors in the fields in the winter.

Jim getting Hay Ring in Position
As we discussed in a
previous post, we strategically placed round hay bales in our pastures during the winter. Here Jim is rolling a hay ring over a bale getting ready for the cattle to move into this paddock.

Cattle Feeding in The Snow - Tyner Pond Farm
Here you see Jim has rolled up yesterday's polywire onto the reel in his hand and the cattle have moved onto the hay. Notice how evenly dispersed they are. Each steer has equal access.

Large Herd Feeding - Tyner Pond Farm
Here is another shot of them calmly and evenly eating. This is exactly what we are working towards.

Tyner Pond Farm Winter Feeding
Look Closely at these Grassfed steers. Look at the quality of their winter coats. Lock at how full and healthy they look. Grass Fed Beef isn't a commodity....management makes all the difference.
