A Victory for Food Transparency: Why We're Celebrating the "Product of USA" Label Change

I have some news I want to share! At Tyner Pond Farm, we're celebrating a big step forward in the fight for honest and transparent food labeling. Many of you joined us last year to advocate for a clear definition of the "Product of USA" meat label, and thanks to our collective efforts, we're seeing positive changes!

The Problem with Vague Labels

Until recently, foreign beef processed or packaged in the United States could carry the "Product of USA" label. This misleading practice wasn't just confusing for consumers – it actively undermined American farmers and ranchers raising their livestock with care and integrity.  his is a very specific problem for American Grassfed Beef where 85% of the US supply is imported yet labeled "Product of the USA".

Taking Action for Change

We believe you deserve to know where your food comes from. That's why we encouraged you to submit comments to the USDA during their public comment period, arguing for stricter labeling standards. We're proud that so many of you made your voices heard!

A Win for Transparency!

The USDA recently announced a new, more stringent definition for the "Product of USA" label. For meat to qualify, the animal must now be born, raised, AND slaughtered within the United States. While there's always more work to be done, this change signals progress towards increased transparency and supports farmers raising livestock on American soil.

Clarity for Consumers, Support for Local Farms

Clear labeling empowers you to make informed decisions about the meat you choose. That's especially important now, when consumers are increasingly concerned about the ethics, environmental impact, and origin of their food.

Our Commitment at Tyner Pond Farm

We've always been transparent about our practices. Our cattle are born and raised on our Indiana pastures, and we take pride in our commitment to responsible, regenerative farming. We'll continue advocating for honest labeling so consumers can support farmers like us who are doing things the right way.

Thank You for Your Support!

This victory wouldn't have been possible without customers like you who care about where your food comes from. Thank you for being a part of our community and standing up for a more just and transparent food system.
