Your "Cow Tip": Saving Calves, Changing the Food System

Tyner Pond Farm: Rescuing Calves, Reclaiming Healthy Beef

At Tyner Pond Farm, we believe that how cattle are raised matters. That's why we take an alternative approach: rescuing calves otherwise destined for the industrial feedlot system and giving them the life they deserve.

The Problem: Industrial Feedlot Beef

Gross Cattle Feedlot Cattle Trapped In A Feedlot A concerning reality of the US beef industry is the dominance of feedlots. Here cattle are confined, fed grain-based diets, and because of the unhealthy environment, are given antibiotics and hormones – practices far removed from the way cattle naturally thrive. These practices undermine many grass-based ranchers committed to responsible animal husbandry.

Our Calf Rescue Mission

Instead of contributing to the overpopulation of cattle, we seek out calves from ethical ranchers committed to a drug-free approach. By paying these ranchers a fair price, we divert these animals from entering the industrial system. Tyner Pond Farm Rescue Calf New Calf On Pasture These calves join our herd and spend their lives on our Certified Organic pastures, thriving on fresh grass and open space. They receive no antibiotics, living a healthy life as nature intended.

The Cost of Responsibility

Our practices are ethical, yet they come with challenges. The price of calves continues to rise, driven by factors like cheap imported beef flooding the market. We refuse to compromise our values, but these rising costs make it difficult to keep our prices steady.
