A new peer-reviewed study published in the Oxford University Press journal Journal of Animal Science helps explain why.

Researchers analyzed hundreds of beef samples from across North America and compared grass-fed beef to grain-fed beef. Overall, the grass-fed beef showed significantly stronger nutritional profiles.

The grass-fed samples contained:

  • Better omega-6 to omega-3 ratios
  • Higher omega-3 fatty acids
  • More CLA
  • Higher EPA and DPA levels
  • Increased levels of minerals like iron and selenium

One of the clearest findings involved the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.
