Two mason jars filled with homemade yogurt ranch dressing. The dressing has a creamy texture with visible specks of herbs throughout.

This year, I set out to eliminate ultra-processed foods from my diet, along with all seed oils, which are also ultra-processed. As part of this journey, I’ve been finding simple, homemade alternatives for my favorite foods—especially ranch dressing. This recipe uses whole ingredients and is an easy way to enjoy a healthier version of a classic.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plain whole milk yogurt*
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon dried dill
  • ¼ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon dried chives
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder1½ tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Combine the yogurt, olive oil, and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Stir until smooth.
Add in the minced garlic, herbs, and spices. Mix well.
  2. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  3. Serve with your favorite salad or use as a dip.

*If you have an Instant Pot, homemade yogurt from local milk is simple to make and works great in this recipe.
