Butter Beef, Grass Fed Beef

One of my favorite winter recipes for the slow cooker is Butter Beef.  It’s basically a simple way to use less-expensive cuts of Tyner Pond Farm Grassfed Beef.  This recipe works with Top Sirloin Steak, cut up Grassfed Chuck Roast, or our most economical cut; the Beef Arm Roast.

Butter Beef is a popular slow cooker recipe known for its simplicity and rich flavor. The dish typically involves slow-cooking beef cuts with butter and seasonings, often including ranch dressing mix, Italian dressing mix, other mixes or various herbs and spices. The slow cooking process makes the beef incredibly tender and infuses it with the flavors of the butter and seasonings.

Here’s a basic outline of how to make Butter Beef in a slow cooker:

Ingredients:

  • Beef chuck roast or similar cut (about 2-3 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter
  • Seasoning mix (such as a packet of Ranch Dressing mix, Onion Soup or Italian dressing mix)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: onions, garlic, or additional herbs for extra flavor
Instructions:

Season the Beef: Place the beef in the slow cooker. Season it generously with salt, pepper, and your chosen seasoning mix.

Add Butter: Place the stick of butter on top of the beef. You can add it whole or cut into smaller pieces.

Slow Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the beef is extremely tender. The exact cooking time can vary depending on your slow cooker and the size of the beef cut.

Optional Additions: If you want to add onions or garlic for extra flavor, you can place them in the slow cooker with the beef at the beginning of the cooking process.

Serve: Once the beef is tender, it can be shredded or served in chunks. The buttery sauce is often spooned over the meat or used as a gravy.

Serving Suggestions: Butter Beef can be served over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles, or alongside vegetables.

I love this because it’s so easy to prepare and delicious & comforting. It’s a great option for a simple yet satisfying meal.
