Starting baby-led weaning (BLW) can feel overwhelming at first—what should you serve, and how can you prepare it in a way that fits your schedule? One of the simplest solutions is making a whole pasture-raised chicken in the crock pot. It’s hands-off, nutritious, and provides tender, finely diced chicken for quick, easy meals all week long.
Why choose chicken?
Pasture-raised chicken offers:
- Protein for healthy growth and development
- Iron to support energy and strength
- B12 for brain and nerve development
- Omega-3s for overall health
Here’s How to Do It:
- Place a whole chicken in your crock pot with a small amount of water or unsalted broth for moisture.
- Set it to low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
- Let it cool, then pull the meat from the bones and dice it finely to create soft, bite-sized pieces perfect for baby-led weaning.
Storage Tip:
Store the pulled and diced chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Pasture-raised chicken will stay fresh for over a week, giving you a quick and healthy meal option whenever you need it. Pair it with soft veggies, add it to soups, or serve it on its own—it’s versatile, nutrient-packed, and easy to prepare.
Baby-led weaning doesn’t have to be complicated. With one whole chicken, you’re providing real, nutrient-dense food that makes meal prep simple and supports your baby’s growth and development.
